Back towards the start of term three Warwick Labour set up stalls on The Piazza and outside the Library to raise awareness about the kidnapping of over two hundred schoolgirls from their school in Chibok, Nigeria by militants from the group Boko Haram and raise money for Plan UK’s Girls’ Fund which supports girls’ education across the globe.
The campaign had a fantastic response, raising over a hundred pounds for the charity. Warwick Labour’s Women’s Officer Becky Gittens — who organised the campaign — commented:
“I was overwhelmed with the huge support we received for our Plan UK fundraiser. Our grand total of £109.15 is tribute to a student body that supports gender equality globally, shown through their readiness to donate to the Girls’ Fund, promoting female education across the globe’

Many thanks to everyone who donated to and helped with the campaign.
