Over the last ten days Warwick Labour members have been to both Parliament and Downing Street.
The trip to Parliament on Tuesday was a success with 9 of our members shown round Parliament. James Plaskitt kindly got his staff to show us round each of the houses as well as getting us tickets to observe from the main gallery. A big thanks to James is in order and more reason to keep up the telephone canvassing!
On February 10th Ben and I (Rory) were invited to a reception as a thankyou to Labour club chairs and Labour Students activists, at 10 Downing Street. Inside we saw the Cabinet Room, the PM’s private study and other rooms before having drinks in the Pillared room. With a reception of around 100 people Ben and I were lucky to manage to chat to John Prescott for over 20 minutes. A very entertaining Prescott talked to us about everything from Global politics to Climate Change to Facebook.
We even managed to meet the PM who gave us a warm welcome and talked to us about campaigning in the Glenrothes by-election.
